UKRAINE & RUSSIA: A HISTORY LESSON FOR THE SELF-RIGHTEOUS

Since you’re all apparently fluent in Eastern European geopolitics, you must already know how Kyiv was the birthplace of Russian civilization over a thousand years ago. Back when Mongols were running wild, Moscow wasn’t even a thing yet. Fast forward, and Ukraine gets passed around like a bottle of cheap vodka—Polish rule, Lithuanian rule, Russian rule—before a brief stint of independence after WWI.

But nope, Stalin had other plans. Ukraine gets swallowed into the Soviet Union in 1922. Then comes the Holodomor, Stalin’s little experiment in state-induced starvation that wiped out millions of Ukrainians. Think they forgot? Think again. WWII rolls around, and Ukraine becomes a bloody battlefield, with some nationalist groups teaming up with Nazi Germany against the Soviets—a fact Russia still milks to justify its actions today.

1991: The Soviet Union finally collapses. Ukraine breaks free. But not for long.

HOW THE WEST SET THIS POWDER KEG ON FIRE

1991 – NATO PROMISES NO EASTWARD EXPANSION – And then, guess what? NATO expanded. Over and over.

1999 – NATO BOMBS YUGOSLAVIA – Without UN approval. Bombs a Russian ally. Guess who took notes?

2001 – U.S. ABANDONS THE ABM TREATY – Scraps limits on missile defense, kicking nuclear tensions into overdrive.

2004 – NATO SWALLOWS EASTERN EUROPE – Seven new countries join. The West’s military playground is now on Russia’s doorstep.

2008 – NATO TEASES UKRAINE & GEORGIA WITH MEMBERSHIP – Russia lays down its red line. The West laughs.

2008 – RUSSIA OBLITERATES GEORGIA IN 5 DAYS – Another U.S.-backed puppet takes a beating.

2013-2014 – CIA-BACKED REGIME CHANGE IN UKRAINE – U.S. and EU bankroll protests that overthrow Ukraine’s elected (pro-Russian) president, Viktor Yanukovych. Washington handpicks the new government.

2014 – CIVIL WAR ERUPTS IN DONBAS – The “new” Ukrainian government goes to war with its own Russian-speaking citizens.

2015 – NATO BEGINS TRAINING & ARMING UKRAINE – But no, they’re not involved in the war, right?

2016 – NATO TROOPS MOVE INTO BALTICS & POLAND – Direct military buildup on Russia’s border.

2019 – U.S. PULLS OUT OF INF TREATY – Say hello to new U.S. missiles in Europe.

2021 – BIDEN FLOODS UKRAINE WITH WEAPONS – Because what’s better than poking the bear?

2022 (FEBRUARY) – KAMALA HARRIS ENCOURAGES UKRAINE’S NATO BID – Russia’s worst fears, confirmed.

2022 (APRIL) – BORIS JOHNSON KILLS PEACE TALKS – The UK pressures Ukraine to reject a peace deal. Why? Because war is profitable.

But sure, keep crying about “unprovoked aggression.”

THE WEST NEVER WANTED PEACE

Ever heard of the Minsk Agreements? They were supposed to end the fighting by granting autonomy to Donetsk and Luhansk while keeping them part of Ukraine. Ukraine—backed by the West—refused to implement them. Instead, NATO kept pouring in weapons and training Ukrainian troops, all while playing dumb.

Now, here’s Russia’s actual peace terms:

• Ukraine must stay neutral—No NATO. Ever.

• Crimea is Russian. Period.

• Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson belong to Russia.

• No NATO weapons buildup near Russia’s borders.

• Lift the damn sanctions.

But nah, that’s too much to ask, right? Instead, let’s keep fueling a war that’s killing thousands—while armchair warriors sip their lattes and hashtag their way to victory.
